The Good FIGHT

Fight is the axis of this team- when we fight hard we have nothing ever to be ashamed of. It is the one important thing that we can always control.

“Fight is a determined effort to do the very best we can do”

“digging in, gritting your teeth, and standing your ground”

-John Wooden

Fight is the axis of this team- when we fight hard we have nothing ever to be ashamed of. It is the one important thing that we can always control. Luck and talent will come and go, but fight always gives us a chance to win- even when we are less talented. Fight also helps talented teams, it allows them to compete at their best, and stay on top. When we fight we can always be proud that we gave our all, and later we will learn from our lessons.

As we wrap up all the preparation and get ready to battle for the District, I am confident and have peace. I am confident in the team and the work that they have put in. I have hope, not a lottery ticket hope, but real HOPE (faith) in knowing that we are ready to give our all. Soccer is an example of life, and their are going to be lots of battles that we face in real life (relationships, illness, jobs, etc). What is important is that we give our all and fight for what we believe in, for what we stand for. Applicable examples for the boys in soccer are staying with your marks, hustling for the 50-50 balls, winning your tackles, getting and preventing scrappy goals, sprinting to make a play. Is not fight a way of life? It’s how we survive and ultimately thrive.

“I have fought the good fight’ I have finished the race’ I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7 These principles develop character and prepare our boys for the future. Determined effort is the key to making ordinary things “extra”ordinary (extraordinary).

This team has the opportunity to win the school’s first soccer District Title. This was one of their goals before the season started, they fought, overcame adversity, and earned the opportunity to meet their goal! What a lesson of perseverance this team is to all of us. They chose to fight when things got hard. Yes, we look to win this match, however regardless of the outcome, take the time and connect the dots with your boy. Fight, pride, convictions, faith, and perseverance are admirable qualities of character that we have seen develop this season! See you at the match.

Go Patriots!
